BOYS LACROSSE
Chambersburg 19, Danville 5: A stretch of play in the third quarter, in which the Trojans ran off 9 consecutive goals, sealed a non-league victory against the Ironmen on the road Tuesday evening.
“We played very well in that stretch,” Chambersburg coach Joe Wilmot said. “We won the faceoff (14-9) and groundball game, which is huge for us. George Beach was 14-7 on faceoffs and Blake Hitchens was awesome on the wings (8 groundballs).”
Blake Dupont had 3 goals and 2 assists for the Trojans (5-3) and he passed the 100 career point plateau. He’s the 15th player in program history to reach that goal and it’s the first time three of those players are on the current team (also Ryan Cosey and Matt Tucker).
Wilmot said, “Eli Herbert defended Danville’s best player and did a nice job. Brayden Sprow made some nice plays and had two caused turnovers and four groundballs. Hudson Sites and Reece Mader some some defensive plays, too. We were short-handed at D-mid and some guys stepped up there, too.”
Cosey fired in 9 goals to lead the Chambersburg offense. Tucker had 3 goals, Hitchens had a goal and assist, Parker Watkins had a pair of goals, Braylen Davis scored once and Herbert had an assist.
“We didn’t shoot well today, but we had over 50 shots because we dominated play,” Wilmot said. “When we changed the plane on our shots, we started scoring more.”
