Shippensburg 5, Greencastle-Antrim 1: The Greyhounds won a Mid Penn Colonial showdown against the Blue Devils on Wednesday afternoon in Shippensburg, handing G-A its first loss.
Kalia Soverns was the winning pitcher, allowing 5 hits and 1 walk and striking out 3.
Shippensburg touched Kiersten Swain for 4 runs in the second inning, including a 2-run home run by COra Chamberlain, and another in the fourth. Swain surrendered 7 hits, 3 earned runs and 1 walk, and Katie Zawilinski allowed only 1 hit and 1 walk in the final 2.1 innings and struck out 5.
Greencastle (4-1, 2-1 MPC) scored its only run in the top of the seventh when Kindal Rice doubled and Lydia Pryke delivered an RBI single.
For the Greyhounds (4-2, 2-2 MPC), Tressa Triplett was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Olivia Perdew went 2-for-3.
