Greencastle-Antrim 26, Bermudian Springs 5: The Blue Devils put up video-game numbers for the second straight day, crushing the Eagles in a non-league game Thursday afternoon in York Springs.
In two games, Greencastle (2-0) has scored 43 runs and had an inning with double-digit runs in each of those games.
G-A coach Eric Shaner said, “I’d say we’ve matured a lot since last year, and our approaches at the plate have been really good. We know we’re riding a wave right now and it won’t last like this, but we’ll enjoy it while we can.”
Similar to Wednesday’s game vs. James Buchanan, Greencastle scored 3 in the top of the first, only to give up 4 runs in the bottom of the first. But the Devils then put up 6 in the second, 2 in the third, 5 in the fourth and 10 in the fifth.
“”We gave up those 4 runs, and, like yesterday, we didn’t panic,” Shaner said. “We went about our business and everybody did their job.”
Cam Rakaczewski led a parade of successful hitters (23 total hits) for G-A, going 4-for-4 with a double, adding 2 walks, 5 runs and 5 runs batted in a stacked stat line. Andrew Weaver was right behind, with a 4-for-5 effort, including a double, 4 runs and 2 RBIs.
Nolan Sullivan also drove in 5 runs, going 2-for-4 with a double and 3 runs scored. Avery Horst was 3-for-5 with a pair of walks, and had a double, 3 runs and 2 runs knocked in.
In addition, Bo Brookens had a 3-for-5 outing with 2 runs and 2 RBIs; Collin Flynn was 2-for-5 with a pair of runs and an RBI and Bryce Davidson was 2-for-3, scored 4 runs and had an RBI.
Ryder Linn threw 3 innings to gain the win, and Bo Brookens and Jaxson Bostick each pitched one scoreless inning.
