Waynesboro 45, Chambersburg 35: A big second quarter by the Maidens carried them to a non-league victory over the Trojans in Waynesboro on Tuesday night.
Chambersburg, which finished with a 2-20 record, held a 9-5 lead after one quarter. But Waynesboro (9-13) outscored the Trojans 13-4 in the second period for a lead it managed to keep.
The Maidens hit 6 of 8 free throws in the fourth quarter to help keep the lead, while Chambersburg made only 5 of 13 foul shots for the game.
“It was not the way we’d like to have the season end, but we did compete,” Trojan coach Jamiur King said. “We had a couple of defensive breakdowns and Waynesboro did a great job of capitalizing on our mistakes.”
