G-A routs Ship to clinch Colonial Division title

SHIPPENSBURG — Greencastle-Antrim’s offense was in synch Monday night, and the defense wasn’t far behind.

That made it tough for Shippensburg to gain any traction, and the Blue Devils went on to post a 77-32 victory Monday night at Ship in G-A’s final regular season boys basketball game.

Greencastle claimed the Mid Penn Colonial Division championship with the victory, with an 18-4 overall record and 13-1 in the Colonial. The Blue Devils will now play the Commonwealth champion, Central Dauphin (18-4), in a semifinal game of the Mid Penn playoffs on Tuesday night at 7:30 at Mechanicsburg.

G-A blew out the Greyhounds by sinking an astounding 14 of 21 attempts from 3-point range, accounting for 42 points. Five different players hit the mark from long range.

Greencastle coach Todd Stephens said, “We’re feeling pretty good. SHooting-wise, it was probably our best game of the year. We shot well and played good defense, so it was a complete game.”

Alex Albright pocketed 18 points for the Blue Devils, but three others hit double figures — Ryan Schick scored 15 and Landen Swain and Dez Holman each produced 11 points. Camden Eby added 9 points.

Stephens said, “I knew we’d be a talented team, and it’s always our goal to win the division championship. We set goals and we got it done tonight.”

For Shippensburg, which finished 8-14 (7-7 MPC), Brady Morris led the scoring with 8 points.
