BOYS BASKETBALL
McConnellsburg 69, Southern Huntington County 38. Like typical style the Spartans stormed out to an early lead over the visiting Southern Huntington County Rockets in a cross-conference game on February 4 and continued to dominate to their 20th consecutive win. The Spartans outscored the Rockets 19-6, 24-12 and 18-10 in the first three quarters as the running clock was invoked in the third.
Hoyt Glenn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 10-for-15 en route to 25 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. His big performance made it nine games straight having scored at least 17 points. Another difference maker was Shaffer Earley, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards.
McConnellsburg (20-0, 7-0 ICC-S) was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists, with Brayden Ramsey dishing out a record 15. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they’ve now racked up at least 20 assists in three consecutive games.
The Rockets’ loss snapped their winning streak at four games and a 12-8 record (5-3 ICC-E). The game had a strong showing from Cory Pershing and Jase Watkins. Pershing posted 14 points and four steals, while Watkins shot 56% from the field to rack up 14 points and eight rebounds.
