GIRLS BASKETBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 38, Gettysburg 22: The Blue Devils trailed by 3 points at halftime, but outscored the Warriors 25-6 in the latter half to claim a Mid Penn Colonial victory on the road Friday night.

Sophie Fries

Callie Izer scored all 9 of her points in the second half and Sophie Fries scored 9 of her 11 points in that half.

“We got off to a really slow start on offense on the road, but our defense was solid for all 32 minutes,” G-A coach Scott McKeever said. “I was proud of how hard we defended their perimeter dribble-drive action — especially Sophie and Liv (Carey), who had to guard girls much smaller than themselves. They did a great job of moving their feet.

“The last 12 minutes of the game our offense to get the ball inside and Sophie really came up big, allowing us to pull away at the end.”

Fries also grabbed 17 rebounds, Elie Bigler took down 12 boards and Carey had 5 assists. Kiersten Swain contributed 12 points for the Blue Devils (11-8, 7-6 MPC), who have won 5 of their last 6 games.

For Gettysburg (8-12, 4-9 MPC), Alaina Keller scored 10 points.
