Chambersburg 60, Cumberland Valley 46: The Trojans put together a nice second half to bag a huge road victory Friday night in New Kingstown, beating the Eagles to avenge an earlier loss to CV.
Chambersburg (9-4, 6-3 MPC), winners of 5 straight, outscored Cumberland Valley 20-6 in the third quarter to change a 1-point deficit at halftime into a 45-32 lead.
“Our second-half performance was really solid,” Trojan coach Shawn Shreffler said, “and we earned a quality win over a very good opponent on the road. Our poise and mental toughness helped us overcome some early struggles.”
Landon Buhrman poured in 24 points, a career-high total, including a 10-for-12 effort at the free throw line, to lead Chambersburg. Grayson Kegerreis knocked down four 3-pointers on his way to 16 points and Colton Cornwell dropped in 15.
“The combination of Landon, Colton and Grayson was exemplary,” Shreffler said. “They led in a variety of ways. The guys went out and did a terrific job executing the game plan.
“Our blue squad and the assistant coaches did an excellent job at practice yesterday helping prepare us for what we saw tonight and how to execute against it.”
For the Eagles (9-5, 6-3 MPC) got 12 points from Sam Parsons.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Cumberland Valley 40, Chambersburg 25: The Trojans hung close to the Eagles in a Mid Penn Commonwealth matchup at CASHS Field House on Friday night until CV outscored them 11-2 in the fourth quarter.
“The score was not indicative of how hard the girls played tonight,” Chambersburg coach Jamiur King said. “We played with a better sense of urgency. We played with intent to possess the ball. and we battled tonight.”
Cumberland Valley (10-5, 5-4 MPC) led 245-15 by halftime, but the Trojans (1-12, 0-9 MPC) pulled closer with an 8-5 advantage in the third period, with Maddie Mills scoring 5 of the points.
Mills ended up with 12 points. Tori Price added 5 points and Bella Noel added 4.
For CV, Sophie Werner and Payton Basehore each scored 12 points.
King said, “Progress over perfection is what we’re always striving for. We have to build off of this for the remainder of the season.”
