GIRLS WRESTLING
Cumberland Valley 54, Chambersburg 24: All 9 bouts won by the Eagles (3-0) came via a pin and that was too much for the Trojans to make up for in a Mid Penn Conference match in New Kingstown on Wednesday night.
“Not the way I envisioned the night going,” Chambersburg coach Josh Sherman said. “The other team’s experience and aggressiveness trumped our effort. I feel like a broken record, but (CV) has been a team for a few more years than we have and experience is winning out.
“We need to find a way to close that gap, and I think we will. We just need to keep showing up and putting in the work.”
Piper Jones (130 pounds), Reagan Evans (142) and Aulana Stanton (190) each produced a pin for the Trojans (7-4). Emily Shaffner as awarded a forfeit at 100.
Sherman said, “Jones, Evans and Stanton continue to be as reliable as tax returns in April.”

Chambersburg ripped off wins in each of the last four bouts.
