Warwick eliminates Shippensburg with 23-7 win

Warwick defeated Shippensburg 23-7 in the opening round of the PIAA District 3 5A Football Championship, ending Shippensburg’s season.

Warwick took the lead for good, 6-0, with 1:32 remaining in the first quarter.

The Warriors went up 9-0 at 9:02 of the second quarter on a 22-yard field goal from Tyler Schoffstall.

Shippensburg scored its only touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run by Brady Maciejewski with 4:25 remaining in the first half. Seth Taylor’s kick made it 9-7.

Warwick would add touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters on 33 and 5-yard runs by Heath Schnipke to seal the victory for the Warriors.

Damien Horan led the Greyhounds, rushing 8 times for 82 yards. Mark Carothers, Jr had 64 yards. Noah Garvin had three catches for 39 yards.

Schnipke led the Warriors, rushing for 107 yards on 21 carries, and had two catches for 57 yards.

Shippensburg ends the season at 7-4, and Warwick (9-2) advances to a quarterfinal game at Solanco on Friday, November 7.
