Waynesboro 3, Chambersburg 1: The Trojans and Maidens played 4 close games, but ‘Boro prevailed in three of them in a non-league match in Waynesboro on Monday night.

The scores were 25-23, 21-25, 25-17 and 25-21 in favor of the Maidens (15-4), who are ranked No. 10 in the District 3 4A rankings.

The loss hurt the Trojans’ chances of making the playoffs — they are 9-9 and just below the bubble in Class 4A, with matches left against two strong teams.

Kaylie Stull came up with 11 service points and 21 digs to lead her team in both categories. Other stat leaders were Nizaya Hawkins with 7 blocks, Kasey Moser in kills with 11 and Ava Zeigler with 35 assists.

In addition, Hawkins had 7 kills and 7 points, Moser had 20 digs and 8 points, Olivia Shearer blocked two balls and had 9 kills and Lexi Poe contributed 19 digs.

Chambersburg coach Ty Frelin said, “It was a tough match for us tonight. We couldn’t get into any kind of rhythm offensively and we made several uncharacteristic errors. Waynesboro played well, with a real determination to win.”
