G-A roundup: Field hockey rolls to victory

Greencastle-Antrim 5, Central Dauphin East 0: The Blue Devils put it all together Thursday night at Kaley Field and picked up a shutout win over the Panthers in a Mid Penn Colonial game.

“We did a great job of controlling the game and having many great passing connections up the field,” G-A coach Keara Allshouse said. “It’s great seeing all of our hard work coming together.”

Natalie Medina scored a hat trick of three goals for the third consecutive game — all wins for the Blue Devils (4-3, 3-3 MPC).

Serenity Goodman and Rowan Shubert each scored one goal and Shubert piled up 3 assists. Rebecca Jones made 4 saves, pushing her over the 200-save mark for her career (203).

Ship closes in on title: The Greyhounds won a Mid Penn Colonial match on Thursday afternoon at Gettysburg National, and are now three wins up on second-place Northern with one match remaining.

Greencastle-Antrim had a rough day, finishing sixth to drop its record to 20-22. Ship is 36-6 and Northern is 33-9. On Thursday, James Buchanan (22-20) took fourth and Waynesboro (15-27) was fifth.

For the Blue Devils, Bryce Davidson tied for fifth by shooting 78.

The Greyhounds’ Ben Horgos took second with an even-par round of 71 and Kaydee Beckenbaugh shot 79 to tie for 10th. JB’s Taylor Blair was fourth with a 75 and Abram Stock tied for 10th with a 79. The top Waynesboro player was Caiden Shacreaw, who tied for fifth with a 78,
