GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Chambersburg 3, Altoona 1: The Trojans hit the road Monday night and made the trip to Altoona worth it by picking up a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory.
Chambersburg (3-2, 1-2 MPC) broke on top 2-0 with wins of 25-13 and 25-17. The Mountain Lions then won 25-19, but the Trojans rolled 25-13 in the fourth game.
“Sometimes you never know what you’re going to get with a Monday match, especially with a long road trip, as well,” Chambersburg coach Ty Frelin said. “But the girls came out pretty zoned in, and they played really well, especially defensively.”
Ava Zeigler led the defense with 17 digs, while Kasey Moser added 10. Zeigler also produced 35 assists.
Moser was front and center with 14 kills and added 8 service points, with 3 aces. Olivia Shearer contributed 7 kills and 2 blocks. Nizaya Hawkins posted 5 kills and 3 blocks, while Lexi Poe made 5 kills and a team-high 16 points, with 6 aces.
Kaylie Stull also served for 11 points, with 2 coming via an ace.
Frelin said, “Altoona has a pretty solid middle blocker, but Ava was able to keep them guessing by distributing the ball really well. It was a good road win for us.”
