Susquehanna Twp. takes care of Blue Devils, 62-6

PROGRESS — The Susquehanna Township Indians played up to their role as the favorite in the Mid Penn Colonial football division Friday night.

The Indians (2-0, 1-0 MPC) handed Greencastle-Antrim a 62-6 defeat at Roscoe Warner Stadium.

“They have size and speed and executed their offense pretty well,” Greencastle coach Jason Thurston said. “We had a hard time tackling their good kids when they got them into space. But our kids fought hard — I’m proud of them.”

The only points for the Blue Devils (0-2, 0-1 MPC) came late in the second quarter when quarterback Lane Barry tossed a scoring pass of 12 yards to wide receiver Iverson Stoner, who made a one-handed catch of the ball.

Thurston said, “We did some good things, but we also had a lot of penalties and a turnover, and they made it hard to sustain drives.

“We had some success running the ball early, but they switched their defensive line up to an uneven front and made it tough. They will be tough to beat — they have a lot of playmakers.”
