Last week: Chambersburg (1-0) was a 27-15 winner over Gettysburg … CD East (1-0) defeated York High, 36-20, scoring the final 22 points of the game, starting late in the third quarter.
The opponent: CD East, which put a 50-2 beating on the Trojans last year (the worst-ever in the series), has a new coach this year, Tyshaun Pollard, a 2017 graduate of East … RB Avery Romain was the big star last week, rushing 29 times for 216 yards and 2 TDs … QB Makai George hit on 6 of 19 throws for 109 and a score … Amir Lemelle caught 4 balls for 76 yards and 2 TDs … The Panthers terrorized Chambersburg last year with a pressure defense.
Coach’s view: Trojan coach Gary Carter said, “We’re not talking about last year — we are a whole different team with a whole different look. We’re expecting them to bring a lot of pressure again — the new coach is a former defensive coordinator. They are disciplined and big up front, and they have a lot of athletes. I saw more good than bad (when he looked at the film from last week’s win over Gettysburg), and we worked hard on correcting the things we didn’t do well..”
Unsung: Carter said the defensive line played well, including Eli Vosburg at one end, Enoch Keath in the middle and Seth Gilliam (fumble recovery) at the other end … “Cole Penick had a couple of good catches and was lights out at times on defense,” Carter said.

GREENCASTLE-ANTRIM AT SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP
Game data: Blue Devils at Indians on Friday, 7, at Roscoe Warner Field … Mid Penn Colonial game … Live stream on MidPennBroadcasting.com.

Gavin Logsdon

Last week: Greencastle (0-1) had the lead at halftime, but suffered a 27-21 loss to Waynesboro … Susquehanna Twp. (1-0) blasted South Western, 42-14, after taking a 28-0 halftime lead.
The opponent: The Indians are the favorites to win the Colonial Division … They were 8-3 last year and return plenty of talent … QB Torin Evans has over 5,000 career passing yards, 53 TD passes and only 6 interceptions … Last week, he connected on 24 of 30 passes for 257 yards and scored twice on the ground … Zi’Khere Leaks (5-59, TD), Josh Nengite (5=4-71), Idrees Kent-Yother (4-59) and Jarrett Kern (6-56) split most of the catches, and Xavier Rivera ran 7 times for 60 yards … ST did have 11 penalties, but its defense allowed only 219 yards and 142 of those came on 2 plays.
Coach’s view: G-A coach Jason Thurston said, “They definitely have speed, athleticism and size and a lot of good athletes who do a lot of nice things. The key is for us to not make mistakes and play physical football and see where we are in the fourth quarter. I’m a run-first guy and we do have to run the ball well, but we also have to mix in some passes on early downs.”
Unsung: Thurston was happy with the way G-A ran the ball against ‘Boro last week, but also liked the play of his two quarterbacks … Starter Lane Barry scrambled well, Thurston said, and Gavin Logsdon played the last two series and led a 2-minute drive that ended in a TD pass to backup TE Kyle Ramirez.
