A big fifth inning sealed the deal for the Greencastle 11/12 All Stars, who won their second straight game, defeating Newville 13-1 in West Pool Play at Newville on Saturday morning at Newville.
With Greencastle holding a 6-1 lead, they scored seven runs in the fifth inning on two Run singles from Grayson Booher and Grier Barkdoll, run-producing singles from Brody Sprague and Carter Wenger, and another run when a pitch with the bases loaded hit Austin Lukenbach Jr.
Down 1-0 going to the top of the third, Greencastle got on the board on a three-run double by Ethan Allen to take the lead.
In the fourth inning, Greencastle extended the lead to 6-1 on an RBI double by Lukenbach., an infield groundout produced a run, and a single by Blane Lowery added a run.
Ethan Allen earned the win for Greencastle. Allen surrendered one hit and one run over four innings, striking out eight and walking six. Brady Swain retired the side inorder in relief in the fifth inning.
Greencastle piled up 14 hits in the game. Barkdoll, Brinx Bonillas, Booher, and Allen each collected two hits for Greencastle Barkdoll, Booher, Lukenbach, and Wenger each drove in two runs for Greencastle.
Every player in the Greencastle lineup had at least one hit. For the second consecutive game, Greencastle did not commit an error defensively.
