Southern Fulton Indians Defeat Nativity BVM On Multiple Hit Performance By Austin Mann
Southern Fulton (24-1) punched their ticket to the PIAA State Championship with a 3-0 victory over Nativity BVM on Monday at Spring Grove Intermediate School.
Austin Mann collected three hits in three at bats, as Southern Fulton defeated Nativity BVM. The junior catcher, Mann, doubled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning.
Both teams were strong on the hill. Southern Fulton pitchers struck out 10, while Nativity BVM sat down three. The two Indian pitchers shut down Nativity in a 7 inning no hitter.
A double by Mann put Southern Fulton on the board in the bottom of the first.
Southern Fulton added one run in the third after Mann singled down the left field line following a 7-pitch at-bat.
Jr, Paul Hendershot earned the win for Southern Fulton. The starter allowed zero hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out five and walking three. NICK WAGNER took the loss for Nativity BVM Hilltoppers. The hurler went four and one-third innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out two and walking three. Colt Mann threw two innings of shutout ball to earn the save for Southern Fulton in relief. The hurler gave up zero hits, striking out five and walking two.
Jett Burger collected two hits for Southern Fulton in two at bats. Southern Fulton was sure-handed and didn’t commit an error.
Southern Fulton will take on the winner of Eden Christian vs Clarion on Thursday, 12 June at 10:30am at Penn State University (Medlar Stadium).
