Chambersburg roundup: Boys lacrosse rips Herd

BOYS LACROSSE
Chambersburg 15, Carlisle 6: The Trojans made up for an earlier close loss to the Thundering Herd by romping to a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory at Trojan Stadium on Friday night.

Ryan Cosey

It was big day for Chambersburg attackman Ryan Cosey, who guided in 8 goals and added an assist, 5 groundballs and a caused turnover.

Just a junior, Cosey became the program’s all-time leading goal scorer, when his fifth and sixth goals moved him past Jake Pierson (2015) with 121 goals. For the season, Cosey now has 70 goals and 91 points (goals plus assists), both of which have obliterated the previous team records of 55 goals and 76 points. Also, his 17 caused turnovers is the most ever for an attackman.

Quinn Makosy posted 3 goals, 2 assists, 10 groundballs and 3 caused TOs for the Trojans (8-9), goalie Kellen Sanders made 13 saves and Jaxon Thomas went 12-for-19 on faceoffs.

“We had it all clicking today,” Chambersburg coach Joey Wilmot said. “Kellen was lights out in the goal, Quinn was all over the field, Ryan was on his game and Jaxon had a great game at faceoff. So many more guys contributed, too.”

Blake Dupont had 2 goals and an assist, Matt Tucker scored twice and Thomas, Tavian Ferguson and Blake Hitchens each had an assist.
