Southern Fulton Defeats Forbes Road

Paul Hendershot drove in four runs on three hits to lead Southern Fulton past Forbes Road 16-1on Thursday. Hendershot doubled in the fourth inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the third inning, scoring one. 

With the win the Indians improve to 16-1, 7-1 on the season and have clinched the ICC South (via tiebreaker).  They earned the right to play in the ICC Championship tournament at Claysburg on Tuesday, 13 May.  The Tournament pairs the winners of each division:  South (SoFo) vs East (Mt Union) and North (West Branch) vs West (TBA).

Forbes Road got on the board in the first inning after a lead off walk, passed ball, ground ball, and sac fly scored the runner.

Southern Fulton immediately answered back in and took the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Hendershot grounded out, and Owen Oakman singled to center field, each scoring one run.

The Indians added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Joel Fitz hit a sacrifice fly, and Colt Mann grounded out, each scoring one run.

Southern Fulton proceeded to score eight runs on six hits in the bottom of the third inning. Brooks Norris drew a walk, scoring one run, Trentin Cain singled, scoring three runs, Mann singled, scoring one run, Hendershot doubled, scoring one run, and Blake Shipley singled, scoring two runs.

FR, Colt Mann earned the win for the Indians. The hurler allowed zero hits and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out five and walking one. B Drenning took the loss for Forbes Road. The hurler went two innings, giving up eight runs on five hits, striking out none and walking six. Cam Cain pitched one inning of shutout ball for Southern Fulton in relief. The pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking one.

The Indians amassed 13 hits in the game. Hendershot, Jett Burger, Cain, and Oakman each collected multiple hits for SF. 

The Indians will travel to Claysburg to take on Mt Union at 1:30pm on Tuesday in the first of  two semifinal games of the ICC Tournament
