Joel Fitz Leads Indians with 4 Hits As Southern Fulton Beats Forbes Road

Sr., Joel Fitz collected four hits in four at bats, as Southern Fulton easily defeated ICC South opponent, Forbes Road, 17-1 on Thursday in Hustontown.  Fitz doubled in the second inning, singled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the first inning.

The  Indians took control out of the gate by sending 14 hitters to the plate and scoring 11 runs in the first inning.  Mark Fitz singled, scoring one run, Austin Mann hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Paul Hendershot singled, scoring one run, Kaiden Schriever singled, scoring one run, Brooks Norris singled, scoring two runs, Fitz singled, scoring one run, Jett Burger singled, scoring two runs, and Hendershot singled again, scoring two runs.

SF added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when Schriever singled, scoring one run, Fitz doubled, scoring one run, and Mark Fitz singled, scoring two runs.

Southern Fulton continued to add to their lead in the top of the third inning after Brady Dressel hit a sacrifice fly, and Fitz singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Sr., Kaiden Schriever (1-0), earned the win for Southern Fulton.  The victory improved the Indians  to 12-0, 4-0 on the season.  The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and one run over three innings, striking out five and walking one. Cam Lupey took the loss for Forbes Road. The pitcher went one inning, giving up 13 runs (12 earned) on 12 hits, striking out none and walking two.

Southern Fulton collected 16 hits in the game. Schriever, Colt Mann, Joel Fitz, Mark Fitz, and Paul Hendershot each had multi hit days. 

The Indians will play Forest Hills Saturday at 11:00am in Boswell in the 2nd game of the Boswell Service Club High School Baseball Classic. The other game pairs North Star vs Derry Area at 9:00am. The consolation is set to start at 1:00pm and the Championship is slated for 3:00pm.
