The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers picked up impressive victories over Broadfording Tuesday in Mason Dixon Christian Conference girls soccer and baseball contests.
SOCCER: CVCS 3, Broadfording 0: The Blazers remained undefeated in conference play and 6-1 overall as they defeated Broadfording to keep their hold on first place.
Addison Teal, Reagan Witmer and Allison Rowe scored goals for the Blazers.
“We were able to keep our fourth clean sheet of the season,” said Blazers coach Tim Hott, referring to the team’s four shutouts. “Allison Rowe was able to get her first varsity goal on Senior Night. Reagan Witmer put in a solid performance and was able to get on the scoresheet with one goal and an assist.”
BASEBALL: CVCS 12, Broadfording 2: The Blazers avenged an earlier 10-3 defeat at Broadfording by beating the Lions 12-2 in a five-inning, 10-run-rule game.
Nathan Minnier kick-started the offense with a two-run home run in the first inning, his second of the year.
“There was no looking back after that,” Blazers coach Ed McBeth said. “We put together our most complete game of the season despite not playing a game for 18 days.”
Jensen Henninger was 3-for-3 with a home run, also his second of the season, and a double, and he pitched 3.2 innings of one-run ball for the win. Minnier and Scott Beckman also had doubles, and Micah Ramsey finished the game in the bottom of the fifth with a bases-loaded single.
