Fannett- Metal Defeats Southern Huntingdon 12-2

The Tigers(4-1) hosted the Rockets from Southern Huntingdon in an ICC cross conference game and prevailed over the visitors by a score of 12-2 in five innings. The Tigers defeated SHC two weeks ago 23-6 on their home turf to complete the season sweep of the Rockets.  

The Tigers got another solid pitching performance from Junior right hander Logan Hall.  Hall threw all five innings giving up only 2 runs on 4 hits.  He had 4 K and issued 1 BB.  He threw 42 of 66 pitches for strikes . The Tiger’s defense supported Hall today making a handful of nice plays throughout the game to help secure the victory.  

F-M got the offense going right away tonight.  Jake Coffman stroked a single to left to get things started.   He swiped second and moved to third on Landon Arnold’s single to right.   Arnold swiped second one pitch later.  Wade Appleby then lined a 2 RBI single to center scoring both Coffman and Arnold.  

Hall stranded two runners in the second with a key strikeout to hold the Rockets scoreless.  

After a little two out lighting in the second inning, the Tigers top of the lineup struck again.  Jake Coffman smacked a single to left center and Landon Arnold followed with a two run bomb to right to put the Tigers up 5-0 after two innings.  

The Rockets got on the board in the 3rd inning when Bronson Hoffman’s sharply hit ground ball got by the Tiger’s second baseman scoring Lucas Creswell and Aiden Berrier who both reached earlier on back to back singles to make it 5-2.  

The Tigers scored three runs in the 3rd inning to extend the lead 8-2.  Broc Hostler lifted a fly ball to center that dropped in and Hostler who was hustling out of the box ended up on second.  He scored on Ayden’s Ryder RBI double.  The Tigers scored two more runs in the inning on Rocket Errors.  

The Tigers scored four runs in the 5th inning to bring on the mercy rule.  Jake Coffman reached on an infield error and scored on Landon Arnold’s RBI single.   Arnold scored on Wade Appleby’s RBI single.  Appleby was doubled off at second.  Broc Hostler reached on a single and scored on Ayden Ryder’s towering home run to right center to make it 12-2.  Hall sat the Rockets down in order in the 5th inning to secure the victory.  

The Tigers had 11 hits off Rocket pitcher Elijah Oswald.  Appleby and Arnold both had three hits on the day.  Coffman and Ryder had a pair of hits each.  Broc Hostler had the other Tiger hit.  Arnold, Appleby and Ryder had 3 RBI’s each.   Coffman and Arnold both scored 3 runs.  

The Tigers host Everett on Thursday in an ICC match up and travel to Claysburg on Friday at 6:00 for a ICC cross conference game.
