BOYS SWIMMING
Trojans trail only CV: After the first day Friday of the Mid Penn Conference championships at Cumberland Valley, Chambersburg holds down second place with 172 points, behind CV’s 228 points.
Chambersburg’s Cristian Pong won a title in the 100 butterfly, crushing the field with a time of 50.51. Xavier Covington (54.31) placed 7th.
Amir Tasker took a second place in the 200 freestyle, posting a time of 1:41.50, while teammate Alex Kaczmark was third in 1:42.80.. Cullen McGraw was a third-place winner in the 200 IM with a time of 1:58.77.
The Trojans also had 2 relays place. The 200 medley relay team of Covington, Ethan White, Pong and Tasker put up a time of 1:37.76 to place second, and the 200 freestyle team of Pong, Kaczmark, White and McGraw was 4th in 1:28.91.
Chambersburg coach Chad White said, “Colby Evans, Thomas McCullough and Griffin Adamek all had big personal drops in their races today. Xavier made a big drop to get to the podium. Amir, Alex and Cullen swam well today and will lower their district seeds. And Cristian was dominant in his 100 fly win.”
GIRLS SWIMMING
Trojans in 5th place: After the first day of the Mid Penn Conference championships, the Trojans girls are in 5th place and had 3 top-five finishes in the competition at Cumberland Valley on Friday.
Margot Ritchie came through with a runner-up finish in the 200 freestyle event, clocking a time of 1:55.85 to finish just behind Mary Boone of CV (1:54.37).
Audrey Keller produced a time of 1:02.59 in the 100 butterfly to grab 4th place.
In addition, the 200 freestyle relay team of Calla Hoffman, Lilly Evans, Keller and Ritchie placed 5th in a time of 1:42.38.
State College leads the team race with 245 points and the Trojans have 92 points.
GIRLS WRESTLING
Chambersburg 30, Susquehanna Township 27: The Trojans captured their fifth straight victory Friday night in a Mid Penn Conference match at CASHS Field House against the Indians.
The Trojans (7-4) received pins from Jessica Li (1:18 at 106 pounds), Haydn Fritz (1:30 at 148) and Aulana Stanton (1:30 at 170).
Chambersburg coach Josh Sherman said, “It was a well-wrestled match by us. We’re continuing to show growth amidst the adversity of having teammates out of the lineup for various reasons.
“Haydn Fritz won a crucial swing match via pin tonight to help us secure the victory.”
Reagan Evans (130) and Daryn Glasgow (155) won by forfeit for Chambersburg. Susquehanna Twp. is 6-5.
