Fannett-Metal Drops Shootout To Juniata Valley

Fannett-Metal travelled to Juniata Valley on Wednesday evening for an ICC cross-conference contest.  The Hornets came into the contest averaging 71 points a game and their offense was on full display throughout the game.  The Hornets knocked down four treys in the opening period and scored in transition to lead after one 28-19.  The Tigers continued to struggle getting stops on defense as the Hornets went into the half leading 53-35.
In the second half, the Hornets were one basket from enforcing the mercy rule when the Tigers went on a 9-2 run to close out the quarter down 78-56.  In the fourth quarter the Tigers continued to play with more energy and looked more like a team as they kept closing the gap on the Hornets, trailing only by single digits, 85-76 with a little over 4 minutes to go in the game.  The lead was just too big as the Hornets finished out the game with a 96-84 victory.  “When we play with high energy and as a team, we can play good basketball.  But when we don’t we are just a very average team.”, Coffman said.
Landon Arnold led the offensive attack with 29 points.  He added 5 rebounds.  Evan Wingert had 16 points and 5 rebounds.  Tucker Seibert had a career high 15 points including 3 treys.  Broc Hostler tossed in 10 points with 9 assists.  Parker Lantz had 8 points and 4 rebounds.  Jake Coffman and Gage McClure had 4 points each.  Coffman added 5 assists and a pair of steals.  Ronal Chavez paced the Hornets with 29 points while Kyler Spurlin scored 22 points.  Both teams knocked down 8 treys in the game.The Hornets out rebounded the Tigers 25-18.
The Tigers will try to get back on track when they travel to McConnellsburg for an ICC South contest on Friday evening at 7:30.
