WRESTLING
Mifflin County 39, Chambersburg 23: With 3 starters out of the lineup, the Trojans were no match for the Huskies in a Mid Penn Commonwealth dual meet on Saturday morning in Lewistown.
Mifflin County (8-3, 3-2 MPC) picked up 2 forfeits and a technical fall in those 3 weights.
Chambersburg (6-2, 4-2 MPC) got within 12-11 after 5 bouts, on wins by Zach Sherman (major decision at 127), Ashton Romberger (major at 139) and Justin Deneen (decision at 145). Deneen trailed 3-0 after one period to Brian Albert, but scored an escape, takedown and 2-point nearfall in the second of a 6-4 win.
But the Huskies ripped off 4 straight wins to take a 28-11 lead.
Trojan coach Matt Mentzer said, “We’ve had some guys get sick, but the kids did wrestle well. Romberger had a nice win over a state-ranked kid (Kamden Everly).”
Also gaining victories for the Trojans were Omar Henchey, who scored a pin at 215, and Isaac Brambley, who won by forfeit at 107.
