The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers outscored New Life Christian 16-3 in the third quarter and captured a 38-18 victory Tuesday evening in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference girls basketball game.
The Blazers (8-4, 4-1 MDCC) built a 20-9 halftime lead, and then Addison Teal scored 11 of her game-high 23 points in the third quarter to propel them to a 36-12 advantage. The Blazers forced New Life into numerous turnovers and missed shots in the period as Kaitlyn Garvin (team-high eight steals) and CC Hott applied heavy pressure out front.
“Kaitlyn and CC played amazing defense at the top of our zone,” Blazers coach Corey Collins said. “They created and havoc and never let New Life get into an offensive rhythm. Playing our fourth game in six days coming off snow days and Christmas break has been quite a stretch. Addison again was huge for us tonight on offense, especially in the third quarter when we needed a bit of spark.”
Behind Teal were Garvin with six points, Chloe Smith with three, and Peyton Bricker, Brielle Gleason and Clara Damlencour with two apiece.
Teal and Bricker led in rebounds with six each, and Teal and Garvin each had three assists. The Blazers finished with 18 steals.
