Chambersburg 36, Greencastle-Antrim 24: The Blue Devils, in their second dual meet ever, earned their first individual win Friday evening in a Mid Penn Conference loss to the Trojans.
At 118 pounds, G-A’s Jazmin Corbin took on Makayla Corwell. Corbin countered a takedown try by Corwell, then scored her own takedown. A few seconds later, Corbin threw in a half nelson and turned her opponent for a pin in 0:32 seconds.
Greencastle (0-2) also picked up 3 wins via forfeits, from Rowan Shubert at 124, Kathryn Bream at 138 and Rachael Graham at 142.
“It was exciting,” Blue Devil coach Drew Allshouse said. “It was nice to get our first win out of the way. We showed a lot of improvement in our confidence from the first match to this one.”
Greencastle added the sport on the final day it could to be eligible to wrestle this year and got school board support. Allshouse said he knew of two girls for sure who would wrestle, but those two recruited others and the team currently has seven girls wrestling.
