BOYS BASKETBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 58, Waynesboro 39: The Blue Devils produced their best effort of the season Monday night at home and dealt the rival Indians a Mid Penn Colonial defeat.
Waynesboro (3-2, 2-1 MPC) managed only one 3-pointer and was only 8-for-17 at the foul line. Meanwhile, G-A made 7 threes and drained 15 of 18 at the line.
“The boys did a good job of executing our game plan,” Greencastle coach Todd Stephens said, “and played together very well. We took care of the ball better, too.”
The Blue Devils (2-3, 1-2 MPC) had balanced scoring, with three players reaching double figures — Alex Albright with 14 points, Landen Swain with 13 and Noah Parks with 12.
Waynesboro put Parks on the foul line 8 times in the fourth period and he sank 7 of those shots.
For the Indians, Carter Hough scored 8 and Nate Nystrom had 7.
Stephens said, “We definitely did our job on defense, and brought a lot of energy. It was not perfect, but we took some good steps tonight.”

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 55, Waynesboro 34: The Blue Devils jumped out to a big first-quarter lead and defeated the Maidens to snap a two-game losing streak in a Mid Penn Colonial game on the road Monday night.
G-A’s pressure defense helped fuel the first-period blowout, in addition to going 10-for-10 from the foul line.
Kiersten Swain tallied 14 points on only 5 shots to lead the Blue Devils (3-4, 1-2 MP)C, and Meadow Gambacurta had 13. The duo each hit a trio of 3-pointers.
For the Maidens (2-3, 1-2 MPC), Breanna McIlquham led a brief 11-2 run that brought the GA lead to 13 points in the fourth period, but Greencastle pulled away again. McIlquham finished with a game-high 23 points.
For the Blue Devils, rebound leaders were Callie Izer and Gambacurta (8 each), Sophie Fries (6) and Swain (5). Eva Martin had 9 points, 4 assists and 3 steals.
