GIRLS SWIMMING
Chambersburg places 3rd: The Trojans collected a trio of first-place finishes and ended up taking third place in the team standings at the Zach Peiffer Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the West Shore Natatorium.

Lily Evans

The Trojans’ Lily Evans was the 500 freestyle winner, hitting the wall first in 5:55.87. Margot Ritchie won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:10.88.

Audrey Keller, Lauren Markle, Evans and Ritchie finished first in the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:47.45.

Trojan coach Hali Cormany said, “We were down by 15 points to Bishop McDevitt with two events to go. Margot and Lauren took first and eighth in the breaststroke to get us to within five points, then all three (400 free) relays moved up and scored to secure third place.”

The 400 free relay team of Keller, Kayla Wolfe, Addie Zimmerman and Ritchie placed second (4:02.51), and the Trojans were third in the 200 medley relay, with Evans, Markle, Keller and Zimmerman clocking in at 2:06.10.

Evans also placed third in the 200 free (2:11.56), Brooke Reichelderfer was eighth in the butterfly, Markle (3rd) and Reichelderfer (7th) placed in the 500 free, and in diving, Zimmerman was third (134.10 points), Ada Velazquez was fifth and Jillian Johnson took sixth.

Trojans earn several medals: Chambersburg’s boys did not take a full team to the Zach Peiffer Invitational, but did pick a few medals.

In diving, Keagan Myers placed second, followed by teammates Nolan Diehl in third and Kruz Swope in fourth.

Also, Griffin Adamek finished fourth in the 100 backstroke.
