McConnellsburg Cruises Over Tussey Mountain

McConnellsburg 63, Tussey Mountain 16. The McConnellsburg High School Spartans hosted the Tussey Mountain Titans in a non-conference game Tuesday night. The Spartans stormed early to a large lead and cruised to an easy win for their second home contest.

The Spartans (2-1 overall, 0-0 ICC South) got on the board in the first minute and ran up a nine-point unanswered run in the first 3 ½ minutes of quarter one.  The home team was up 14-2 by five minutes in, thanks to three 3-point buckets. At quarter one ending, the Spartans were sitting atop 26-6 with a 20-point lead to the Titans.

In the second quarter, the Spartans held the visitors scoreless and added 13 points to widen the gap, and the first-half lead was 39 to 6.

The third quarter ended with the Spartans limiting the Titans to four points and going ahead 55-10. The fourth quarter scoring resembled similar play, with several bench players continuing to get opportunities to contribute to the contest and test their conditioning, toughness, and play readiness.

Team-highs:  Earley led with 10  combined offensive and defensive rebounds.  Jefferson led with 7 assists and 6 steals.  Ramsey led with 3 blocked shots.
