Mechanicsburg 79, Greencastle-Antrim 42: The Blue Devils faced a very strong Wildcat team to open their season in a non-league game at home Wednesday night, and Mechanicsburg took control early with a 32-11 lead after just one quarter.
Josh Smith scored 16 of his 31 points in that period for the Wildcats, while Chance Yanoski scored 10 of his 16 points and Liam Owens had 4 of his 14 points.
Greencastle outscored its opponent 22-15 in the second period as Alex Albright and Carter McCauley each scored 9 points. But Mechanicsburg held the Blue Devils to just 6 points in the third period to salt the game away.
McCauley finished with 18 points and Albright had 13 to lead Greencastle.
