Chambersburg 4, State College 1: A long trip and rainy weather did not daunt the Trojans on Monday evening, and they came home with a Mid Penn Conference victory over the Little Lions.

“We hope to carry the momentum of two consecutive wins into our games early next week against Penn Manor and Carlisle,” Chambersburg coach Paul Unruh said.

The Trojans (5-5-2, 4-4-1 MPC), who have won 4 of their last 6 games,  took a 2-0 lead by halftime by using the same scoring combination. Bree Paetow made a pass to Kadence Decker, who knocked in both goals. Decker and Malia Cramer lead the team with 9 goals each.

Early in the second half, Kynnedy Beecher sent in a cross that deflected off a defender and into the net. Paetow finished it off when she controlled a State College goal kick, dribbled to about 25 yards out and sent a Rocket into the back of the net.

Chambersburg 0, State College 0: The Trojans and Little Lions battled through the rain at Trojan Stadium for a scoreless draw Monday night in a Mid Penn Commonwealth contest.

“Tonight was difficult for both teams,” Chambersburg coach Corey Grove said. “Conditions made it a bit sloppy and tough to gain any rhythm. With that being said, our team is starting to establish an identity that’s hard-working and gritty.

“I was pleased with the effort tonight, especially after losing two more starters. Guys continue to step up when needed. If we can find wins in two of the next three games, we could still have a chance at a District 3 berth.”

Chambersburg (4-8-2, 2-5-2 MPC) was out-shot by State College, 11-8, and had 2 fewer corner kicks (6-4).

Grove said Izhuis Jean played a good game and goalkeeper Gio Barberio made 5 saves.
