GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Chambersburg 3, New Oxford 0: The Trojans breezed past non-league foe New Oxford, taking wins of 25-7, 25-9 and 25-19 over the Colonials on Monday evening at CASHS Field House.
Alayna Jones served for 15 points, including 3 aces, while Karley Skultety had 10 points and 4 aces. Skultety also led in digs with 11, while Kaylie Stull and Marah Lehman each had 6.
Ava Zeigler (13) and Allison Bert (11) split up the assists for the Trojans (8-2), winner of 7 in a row. Lehman led in kills with 11, Riley Evans had 6 and Nizaya Hawkins 5. Riley (4) and Hawkins (2) led in blocks.
Chambersburg coach Ty Frelin said, ” It was a good start to a big week. We got a chance to get everyone involved, and it was fun watching the older girls cheering on the younger ones. Many of our players did some really good things.”
GIRLS GOLF
Trojans place 3rd : Chambersburg had enough players to compete as a team in a Mid Penn Commonwealth match Monday at Rich Valley, and they placed third among 10 teams.
Emily Rensch led the way for the Trojans, firing a 1-over pat score of 73, three shots back of winner Megan Fenton of Cumberland Valley. Rensch birdies No. 2, a par 3, and No. 7, a par 5, on eher way to a 1-under 35 on the front side, and shot 38 on the back.
Alaina Morris shot an 81 — her best career score — to place sixth for Chambersburg. She birdies the par 4 fourth hole and the par 5 13th on her way to nines of 42-39.
Britney Miller shot her lowest score of the season, a 105.
Shippensburg freshman Kaylee Beckenbaugh was fourth with a 77, which included back-to-back birdies on Nos. 4-5 as well as a birdie on No. 18.
FIELD HOCKEY
Central Dauphin 9, Chambersburg 1: The Rams picked up a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory over the Trojans in Linglestown on Monday afternoon.
Chambersburg coach Kelsey Baker said, “We are getting better on attack, and we have the right pieces with the defense. It’s just a matter of bringing it together so we can transition better on our counter attacks.
“All the girls played well. Malaina Alleman and Calissa Salmon really had good games on defense.”
The goal for the Trojans (1-5, 0-5 MPC) was scored by Alex Bender. ON a penalty corner, the ball came to Jaxin Frazer, who took a shot and Bender redirected it into the cage.
GIRLS TENNIS
Mechanicsburg 5, Chambersburg 0: The Wildcats used a strong singles lineup to help down the Trojans in a non-league match at Norlo Park on Monday afternoon.
Mechanicsburg (7-3) won all three singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores.
Chambersburg (1-7) was more competitive in the doubles matches. At No. 1, Shelby Newman and Gwen Sefcheck dropped a 6-3, 6-2 verdict to Lexi Fedoriw and Lindsay Cameron, while at No. 2, Gretta Hill and Julianna Small fell 6-2, 6-0 to Lani Knisely and Haley Leppley.
