Rensch takes 1st place: The Mid Penn Commonwealth match on Monday at Centre Hills G.C. in State College featured difficult conditions, but Chambersburg’s Emily Rensch rose to the occasion again.
Rensch shot a 3-over par score of 75 to earn medalist honors for the second time this season.
Trojan coach Mark Yost said, “Emily played really well. She finished with a bogey and a double, or she would have been at even par. Britney Miller (placed 18th) is coming around, too.
“The rough was really high and looked like it hadn’t been mowed in a long time, and that led to lots of lost balls.”
Rensch finished with a 1-under par 35 on the front side, fueled by three consecutive birdies on the par 5 No. 2, the par 4 No. 3 and the par 3 No. 4. She was 1-over on the back before the bogey-double finish that gave her a 40.
