Game Goes Down To The Wire As Southern Fulton Loses To Bishop McCort Crushers On Final Play

Southern Fulton fell to Bishop McCort Crushers 9-8 on Thursday at Mount Aloysius College on a walk off single that propels the Crushers into the PIAA Final 4. The game was tied at eight in the bottom of the seventh when Mason Pfeil singled, scoring the winning run.

Ethan Powell collected three hits in four at bats in the loss. Powell singled in the fifth inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

The Indians got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jett Burger hit into a fielder’s choice, and Mark Fitz doubled, each scoring one run.

Bishop McCort took the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Adam Radkowski singled, Erik Radkowski singled, and Eli Zasadni walked, each scoring one run.

Southern Fulton flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring six runs on five hits to take a 8-5 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Powell that drove in two.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Bishop McCort went back into the lead after Zasadni singled, and Pfeil singled, each scoring one run.

Radkowski earned the win for the Crushers. The righty gave up one hit and zero runs over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one. Owen Oakman took the loss for the Indians. The right-handed pitcher went two and one-third innings, giving up four runs on six hits, striking out three and walking two. Paul Hendershot led things off on the bump for Southern Fulton Varsity Indians. The righty gave up seven hits and five runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking two. Lucas Turner started on the mound for Bishop McCort. The righty gave up six hits and eight runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking four.

Bishop McCort piled up 13 hits in the game. Radkowski drove the middle of the lineup, leading Bishop McCort with three runs batted in. He went 2-for-4 on the day. Pfeil went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Bishop McCort in hits. Brock Beppler, Jonathan Delia, and Radkowski each collected multiple hits for Bishop McCort.

Southern Fulton finishes its season at 20-6.
