James Buchanan falls to Eastern Lebanon County in quarterfinals

Thursday’s game against Eastern Lebanon County Raiders was a rollercoaster for the James Buchanan Rockets, with the lead changing hands and significant plays. The game was tied at four in the top of the sixth when Morgan Shanaman’s hit a three run homer, and Eastern Lebanon County defeated James Buchanan 7-4

The Raiders scored in the first on a Bryant Auker single, scoring two runs.

Eastern Lebanon County added one run in the second. Gavin Bicher singled, making the score 3-0.

Jake Miller hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the second for the Rockets.

James Buchanan took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Jake Miller doubled, Drew Crouse hit into a fielder’s choice, and Carter Hissong grounded out, each scoring one run.

Colin Bogart singled, which helped the Raiders tie the game at four in the top of the fifth.

Drew Crouse started on the mound for James Buchanan. Crouse allowed seven hits and five runs (three earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out two and walking four.

Morgan Shanaman started the game for Eastern Lebanon County. He surrendered four hits and four runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking none.

Jake Miller drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Rockets with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day.

The Raiders piled up nine hits in the game. Morgan Shanaman provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Eastern Lebanon County with three batted runs. Bryant Auker and Colin Bogart each collected two hits for Eastern Lebanon.

James Buchanan will now host Fleetwood, who fell 3-2 to East Pennsboro in the District 3 4A consolation game Tuesday at 4:30. The winner will advance to the PIAA state tournament.
