Jett Burger’s Power On Display As Southern Fulton Defeats McConnellsburg 8-1.

Jr, Jett Burger hit two home runs and drove in five as the Southern Fulton Indians defeated McConnellsburg 8-1 on Tuesday at the HB Mellott sports complex in Warfordsburg.  With the win, the Indians clinched the ICC South Title and punched their ticket into the ICC Championship tournament next Tuesda at Claysburg High School.

Burgers big day started with a towering 2 run homer in the first and t followed with another blast in the fourth inning.

Southern Fulton was able to get on the board in the first when Burger homered to left field, scoring Ethan Powell, who had singled to lead off the game.

The Indians (15-3, 7-0) padded the lead with six runs in the fourth inning. Joel Fitz singled, scoring two runs, Paul Hendershot hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Burger hit a 3 run shot to left field,

Jackson Clevenger was responsible for Spartans lone run as he hit a solo home run to right field in the top of the sixth.

Paul Hendershot earned the win for Southern Fulton. The sophomore starting pitcher scattered 10 hits and one run over seven innings, while striking out seven and walking none.

Clevenger took the loss for McConnellsburg.

He went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering eight runs on nine hits, striking out three and walking two.

The Indians collected nine hits in the game. Ethan Powell, Hunter Ward, and Burger each collected two hits  for SF. 

The Indians are back in action again tomorrow at Forbes Road for a 4:30pm start to close out their regular season ICC slate.  The game was moved from Thursday due to the impending weather forecast for Thursday.
