Senior Ethan Powell collected three hits in four at bats, as Southern Fulton (13-1, 6-0) easily defeated Everett 13-2 on Thursday. Powell singled in the second inning, hit a sacrifice fly in the third, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.
The Indians got on the board in the top of the first inning after Mark Fitz singled, and Austin Mann hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. The Indians added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Hunter Ward doubled, and Ward scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.
Joel Fitz earned the win for Southern Fulton. The right-handed pitcher pitched three innings, giving up three hits and two runs (zero earned), striking out six and walking five. Jonathan Cooper took the loss for Everett. He pitched three innings, surrendering eight runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out three and walking four. Ethan Mellott collected the save.
Southern Fulton piled up 13 hits in the game. Powell and Fitz each collected three hits for the Indians . Trentin Cain collected two hits for Southern Fulton Varsity in four at bats.
Southern Fulton welcomes the Black Panthers of Northern Bedford County on Friday at 4:30pm.
