The pitching was impressive as the Southern Fulton Indians (11-0, 4-0) beat McConnellsburg in an old-fashioned pitchers’ dual.
Senior Jaxson Clevenger and sophomore Paul Hendershot squared off in a pitchers dual in a crucial ICC South matchup Thursday night at McConnellsburg High School.
Both teams were tremendous on the mound, but Southern Fulton defeated McConnellsburg 2-0. Paul Hendershot started the game for Southern Fulton and did not disappoint. The sophomore righty recorded all 21 outs in 22 batters.
Southern Fulton got on the board in the first inning after Jett Burger hit into a double play, but one run scored.
Hendershot earned the win for the Indians. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs on 66 pitches over seven innings,
Jackson Clevenger took the hard-luck loss for McConnellsburg.
The starting pitcher went seven innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out four and walking two.
Ethan Powell, Ethan Mellott, and Hendershot each collected one hit for the Indians. Burger led Southern Fulton with one run batted in.
Southern Fulton will travel to Tussey Mountain for their next game on Saturday.
