Southern Fulton Rallies to defeat Rappahannock

Despite trailing by as many as four runs, Southern Fulton (5-0, 2-0) Indians rallied to top Rappahannock 6-4 on Friday.

Southern Fulton didn’t take the lead until later in the game. The Indians were down 4-3 in the top of the fifth inning when Jett Burger doubled, scoring three runs.

Rappahannock (6-1) took the lead in the first after a fielding error scored a run. The inning was complicated further when the Raiders’ lefty first baseman connected on a three-run homer to left field.

Ethan Powell earned the win for Southern Fulton. He entered in the second inning. Powell was stellar, throwing six shutout innings. He surrendered only two hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out three and walking three. Paul Hendershot stepped on the bump first for the SF Indians. The righty gave up three hits and four runs (three earned) over one inning, striking out one and walking two.

Jett Burger led the Indians with three RBIs. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Hunter Ward and Austin Mann collected two hits for the Southern Fulton Varsity Indians. Hendershot paced Southern Fulton with three walks. Overall, the team was patient at the plate, amassing nine walks for the game.

The Indians are back in action at Rappahannock, VA on Saturday at 11:00 am.
