HERSHEY — It will have to be a different color medal than Aiden Hight wanted.

The Chambersburg senior will have to settle for a PIAA Wrestling Championships medal for anywhere from third to sixth place after suffering a 9-1 defeat to Dillon Bechtold of Owen J. Roberts in the semifinals Friday night at Giant Center.

Bechtold (41-0) beat Hight for the third time this season.

Hight (34-4) will wrestle a consolation bout Saturday morning to determine if he wrestles for third place or fifth place later Saturday morning.

Bechtold’s strength and quickness proved to be too much for Hight. Three times Bechtold hit a sweep for a single-leg takedown and did everything he could to avoid Hight’s upper body tie-ups.

His other takedown came after Hight nearly spun behind for a takedown. Instead, Bechtold reacted so quickly, that he ended up spinning behind Hight for two points. Hight’s only point came on a first-period escape.

Earlier Friday, Hight notched a 10-4 decision over Central Mountain’s Rocco Serafini in the quarterfinals.
