Ed Gotwals was recently honored with induction into the District III Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Ed was inducted as a contributor. A longtime supporter of high school wrestling, Ed covered wrestling for 41 years as a sportswriter for the Chambersburg Public Opinion, including every District 3 Wrestling championship since 1977, except two missed due to illness. He was the sports editor at Public Opinion from 2000-2017. In 2019, he was recognized with the PA Wrestling Roundup Media Award.
Ed currently covers wrestling and all local sports at TheSportsPage.blog and broadcasts Trojans sporting events for Mid Penn Broadcasting; Ed also works part-time at Penn National Golf Club. He lives in Chambersburg with his wife, Elizabeth.
Gotwals graduated from Chambersburg Area Senior High School in 1972 and 1976 from Gettysburg College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science.
Ed wrestled for four years at Chambersburg and became the first Trojan wrestler to advance to the District 3 semifinal round.
