McConnellsburg went on the road to play their first conference matchup against rival Forbes Road Saturday night and came away with a 74-51 victory.
The Cardinals only trailed the Spartans by three points at the end of the first quarter.
Coach Joshua Lowery said “Once we settled in and the game started to flow we took stride, taking the Cardinals into halftime leading 39-24. We then came out of halftime with a huge third quarter surge that would give us a comfortable gap to get the victory. Big shot out to Coach Galvin of the Cardinals, he has the boys playing hard, and they don’t back down!”
