GIRLS BASKETBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 46, Gettysburg 22: The Warriors got off to a really hot start, putting the Blue Devils in an 11-1 hole early, but Greencastle’s defense allowed only 11 points over the final three quarters to take a Mid Penn Colonial win at home Friday night.

G-A outscored Gettysburg (2-7, 0-6 MPC) 11-1 in the second quarter, 14-5 in the third and 13-0 in the fourth.

Haley Noblit scored 15 of her 18 points in the second half for the Blue Devils (8-3, 5-1 MPC), and also added 4 assists and 3 steals.

Meadow Gambacurta hit a 3-pointer late in the second period to give G-A the lead for good and had 5 points and 6 offensive rebounds. Kylie Kerns returned from an injury and contributed 5 points and 4 boards.

Also, Callie Izer had 5 points and 6 rebounds, Eva Martin scored 4 points and added 7 rebounds and 3 steals  and Lexi Nelson helped the strong defense with her hustle.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 59, Gettysburg 56: The Blue Devils put four players in double figures and outlasted the Warriors in a huge Mid Penn Colonial road showdown on Friday night.

The teams, now tied for first place in the Colonial, were tied 42-42 after three quarters. Gettysburg led 48-44 early in the fourth and still held a 54-53 lead with 1:23 left. But G-A scored 5 straight points and never gave up the lead again.

Greencastle moved to 9-2 (5-1 MPC), while Gettysburg is now also 9-2 (5-1 MPC).

For the Blue Devils, Carter McCauley led with 13 points, Conner Wright scored 12, Jordan Hunt had 11 and Eli Sterling added 10.

Ahead 55-54 on Wright’s layup off a Sterling bounce pass, Greencastle’s Surzano Solomon was fouled and made the first free throw. He missed the second, but Wright pulled down the rebound and got the ball to Hunt, who was fouled and made both. The Warriors scored, then fouled Hunt again and he made the first and missed the second.

A 30-foot shot by Gettysburg fell short at the buzzer.

Hunt hit a 3-pointer and was 3-for-4 at the free throw line in the fourth period. Sterling and Wright scored 4 each in that period and Solomon scored 3.
