G-A roundup: Boys, girls hoops sweep Rockets

BOYS BASKETBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 72, James Buchanan 47: The Blue Devils rolled to a 23-12 lead after one quarter and captured a Mid Penn Colonial victory over the Rockets on Friday night in Mercersburg.

Playing again without leading scorer Conner Wright, Greencastle (4-1, 2-0 MPC) got 18 points from Carter McCauley, 16 from Eli Sterling and 14 from Logan Alvey, who connected on four 3-pointers. Jordan Hunt also banged in a trio of threes for 9 points.

G-A outscored the rockets in each quarter.

D. Crouse led JB with 21 points.

Greencastle-Antrim 57, James Buchanan 22: The Blue Devils recovered from their first loss of the season on Tuesday by taking a 35-point win over the Rockets in a Mid Penn Colonial game Friday night at home.

A solid man-to-man defense helped Greencastle (4-1, 1-1 MPC) pull away from JB in their first home game of the season. G-A held James Buchanan to 8 or fewer points in each period.

Haley Noblit poured in 18 points and added 8 assists and 4 steals for the Blue Devils, and Callie Izer came off the bench to record a career-high 12 points and 9 rebounds.

Also for Greencastle, Kylie Kerns had 6 points, 6 boards, 4 assists and 3 steals; Ainsley Swindell had 8 points and 6 rebounds, and Eva Martin contributed 8 points, 6 boards and 2 assists.
