Brady Deneen

Last week: The Trojans (4-5, 2-4 MPC) fell to Harrisburg, 60-14 … The Little Lions (5-3, 4-2 MPC) lost to Cumberland Valley 17-10 when they lost a fumble near the goal line in the last minute.
The opponent: State College has lost in consecutive weeks to Harrisburg and CV … They are still ranked No. 18 in the state in 6A by MaxPreps … Star running back D’antae Sheffey has 468 yards on 104 carries (13 TDs), which is well below the 1.000 yards plus he had last year as a freshman … QB Eddie Corkery has thrown 186 times and connected on 108 (58%) for 1,737 yards, 15 TDs and 5 int. … Ty Salazar is the top receiver, with 47 catches for 881 yards and 6 scores … Michael Gaul has 18 catches for 239 yards (5 TDs) and Daimear Coad has 14 for 213 and 2 scores.
Coach’s view: Trojan coach Mark Luther said, “We are so banged up … I think we could have competed with State College this year if we were at full strength. But we have about 10 starters out this week, including four of our five starting offensive linemen and the tight end. A lot of younger kids will have to fill in. State College might be a little off of their standard for the past few years, but they’re still a good football team. Their offensive line has struggled a bit and they’re defense has given  up some big plays.”
Unsung: Brady Deneen (sr., 5-6, 170). “He played his butt off last week, filling in at fullback and playing linebacker. He had an amazing effort, was very aggressive and did some good things. Unfortunately, he injured his shoulder in the third quarter and won’t be able to play this week.”
Stats: Passing — Riley Harmon 103-for-179 (57.5%), 1m353 yards, 12 TDs, 7 int. … Rushing — Antonio Harrison 58-199, 2 TDs; Imani Watson 45-178, 2 TDs; Dayre Senft 52-159, 1 TD … Receiving — Rhaigeon Parker 26-417, 4 TDs; Jermere Jones 24-329, 3 TDs; Trever Luther 23-299, 1 TD; Jake Folmar 16-167, 3 TDs; Andy Jean 11-178, 1 TD.

Last week: The Blue Devils (6-3, 3-3 MPC) fell to Mechanicsburg, 34-22 … Shippensburg (4-5, 3-3 MPC) defeated Waynesboro, 27-0.
The opponent: The Greyhounds have won 2 of their last 3 games, including against Mechanicsburg 3 weeks ago, 14-7 … QB Brady Maciejewski has completed 51 of 105 passes (48.5%) for 750 yards, 4 TDs and 3 int. … The top rushers are Janye Statum (96-408, 5 TDs), Patrick Eichelberger (94-398, 3 TDs) and Mark Carothers (51-176, 1 TD) … The leading receivers are Kaden Shope (19-373, 3 TDs) and Ayden Mentzer (12-107).
Coach’s view: G-A coach Devin McCauley said, “As far as the playoffs, we just have to take care of what’s in front of us, and let the pieces fall where they may. We’re looking at it as: If we win we’re in, and if we don’t, we’re out. We knew going into the season that Ship had a young team. But they have a good coaching staff and this is week 10, so they’re not young anymore. They have talent. Their offense runs the ball well and is very physical and so is their defense, and they’ve gotten better each week. I think it’s going to come down to whichever team runs the ball better will win. So we have to win the line of scrimmage and take advantage of what they give us.”
Unsung: Garrett Blubaugh (sr., 5-9, 175). McCauley said, “He does a lot of the little things for us, in all phases. Last week when we lost (Xzavier) Ramsey, he gained about 40 or so yards running. He plays running back, wide receiver and linebacker and last week he even downed a punt on their 1-yard line.”
Stats: Passing — Logan Alvey 100-for-160 (62.5%), 1,117 yards, 8 TDs, 6 int. … Rushing — Ramsey 93-513, 5 TDs; Carter Coons 50-384, 4 TDs; Surzano Solomon 51-384, 5 TDs … Receiving — Carter McCauley 33-528, 4 TDs; Coons 17-133, 1 TD; Blubaugh 10-125, 1 TD; Solomon 18-102, 1 TD … Tackles — Parker Funk 78; Trent Merillat 76; Logan Shifflett 64 … Tackles for loss — Funk 13; Sal Bangura 11 … Sacks — Funk 13, Bangura 7.
