The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers saw their quest for a Mason Dixon Christian Conference boys soccer championship come to a halt on Thursday as they dropped a 3-1 decision to Grace Academy in the MDCC semifinals.
Third-seeded Grace scored an early goal and added a second goal later in the half to take a 2-0 lead at intermission.
The second-seeded Blazers (18-4-1) cut the margin to 2-1 about midway through the second half when Cort Stouffer drilled a penalty kick into the net.
Grace took a 3-1 lead with a goal in the game’s final 10 minutes.
“It was a tough loss – the boys fought hard,” Blazers coach Stan Hott said. “Goalkeeper Gabe Beckering made his 1,000th career save tonight.”
The Blazers will play fourth-seeded Faith Christian in the MDCC consolation game Saturday at 5 p.m. at Shalom. Grace will take on top-seeded Shalom in the championship game at 7 p.m.
