G-A roundup: All 3 playoff-bound teams end with victories

Greencastle-Antrim 3, Gettysburg 0: The Blue Devils blanked the Warriors at home Thursday night to finish its Mid Penn Colonial championship season with a victory.

Greencastle is 15-1 and had a 13-1 record in the Colonial, with the loss coming 3-2 to Big Spring in the first division match of the season. After that, G-A won 13 straight in the division and 12 of them were by 3-0 scores.

“I was thrilled the girls were tested and played strongest in the tight situations,” Blue Devil coach Corry Eagler said. “Getting back-to-back Colonial division championships on Senior Night was quite the reward.”

G-A is ranked No. 2 behind Berks Catholic in the District 3 power rankings in Class 3A and will host a first-round playoff match on Tuesday.

The Blue Devils won the games by scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 25-12.

Abby Eagler piled up quite a few good stats — she knocked down 17 kills (hitting .500 on her attempts), and added 3 blocks, 3 aces and 13 digs.

Masalyna Miller had 11 points and 9 digs, Alaina Garling had 8 points and 12 assists, Lily Kauffman put down 7 kills, Emma Pool had 3 blocks and Kylie Kerns collected 23 assists.

Greencastle-Antrim 3, Boiling Springs 0: The Blue Devils completed an unbeaten regular season and the Mid Penn Colonial Division title by beating the Bubblers on Thursday night at Kaley Field.

Greencastle (15-0-2, 13-0-1 MPC) won its last three games by a 3-0 score and had four straight shutouts to finish with 11 clean sheets. The Blue Devils are ranked No. 5 in District 3 Class 3A, and will host a first-round playoff game Monday.

“What a way to end the regular season for the boys,” G-A coach Aric Bruner said. “They earned the undefeated season with their consistent play the entire season with all facets of the game.”

Cooper Noblit scored twice in the first half, on assists from Nolan Sullivan and Garrett Decker. In the second half, Noah Parks saved a ball off the end line and passed Ewan Coy, who kicked it into the Bubblers’ net.

“It was a great effort by Parks to keep the ball in play on the end line,” Bruner said.

Ethan Ford made 7 saves in goal for the Blue Devils.

Greencastle-Antrim 1, Boiling Springs 0: The Blue Devils wrapped up their regular season with a Mid Penn Colonial victory over the Bubblers on the road Thursday night.

The game’s lone goal was scored unassisted by Abbie Wolfe.

The G-A defense posted its 10th shutout of the season.

Greencastle will enter the playoffs with a 14-3 record, and 12-2 in the Colonial, with both losses to division champion Northern York.

The Blue Devils are ranked No. 5 in the District 3 Class 3A power rankings and will host a home first-round playoff game on Monday.
