The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers came up with a pair of hard-earned boys soccer victories on the road, defeating Faith Christian 3-2 Friday in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference game and Highland View Academy 1-0 Saturday in a non-league game.
Friday’s win kept the Blazers in the running for the regular-season league title and top seed in the MDCC playoffs. The Blazers are 8-2 in the league, 13-2-1 overall with key games at Calvary Christian Tuesday and at home against Shalom on Friday.
In the game against Faith, “Titus Hott had a big night with the game-winning goal and an assist,” Blazers coach Stan Hott said.
Cort Stouffer and Gage Brookens also scored for the Blazers, while Brookens, Landon Kellogg and Ryan Crawford joined Hott with assists. Goalkeeper Gabe Beckering made 13 saves.
Hott also scored the winning goal against Highland View on an assist from Finlay Smith. Beckering registered 22 saves in the shutout.
“Landon Kellogg was player of the match, and Titus again had the game-winning goal,” Stan Hott said.
