Abbey Wise

GIRLS SOCCER
Chambersburg 2, Waynesboro 1: The Trojans picked up third straight win by rallying past the Maidens in a non-league clash Friday afternoon in the ‘Boro.

Waynesboro took the lead in the first half on a breakaway goal and led 1-0 at the break.

But in the second half, Abbey Wise of Chambersburg (5-3-1) took a free kick and made a quality pass to Lily Nichter, who was able to punch the ball into the net to tie the game. The Trojans then took the lead a few minutes later.

“Lily Cornwell did a good job of getting the ball out of our defensive third, took her space and delivered a nice pass to Summer Jones, leading her into space. Summer then crossed the ball and Nichter headed it in.

“The girls showed a lot more energy in the second half and it really showed. We had a good amount of quality opportunities, and we were finally able to score on a set piece.”
